About Ironleaf
The People Behind Ironleaf
Ironleaf started because two people who love premium cigars got tired of saving them for special occasions. Brad and Andi launched the brand in 2024 to prove one thing: boutique quality and careful blending don’t have to carry a celebration-only price.
How Ironleaf started
Brad grew up in the US with a taste for good tobacco and the ritual of a slow smoke. Andi’s Dominican heritage brought something Brad couldn’t Google: firsthand knowledge of the farms, the aging sheds, and what separates a commodity blend from a leaf worth waiting five years for. When they married, they kept running into the same wall. The cigars they wanted every week were priced for once a month.
So they started working on the future that started with finding the most experienced independent blender who shares their standards. Source aged Dominican-seed tobacco. Roll every cigar in the United States under master rollers with 20-plus years at the bench. And walk away from any batch that misses, no matter how far into production it is.
That last part costs real money. Ironleaf rejects 40% of its test batches before a blend earns release. A soft spot in the construction, a flavor that flattens, a final third that unravels — any one of them sends the batch back. This is a husband-and-wife operation, so every call comes down to a single question. Would we hand this to a friend and say it’s what a premium cigar should be?

The tobacco and the process
The tobacco ages 3 to 5 years on the farm before it reaches the blending room. No broker lots bought by the bale. We’re in front of growers who chase leaf quality over volume. We pick based on how the tobacco tastes after fermentation and aging, not what the spec sheet claims.
Our blender judges every selection on four things: flavor that develops from light to nub, construction that burns even without babysitting, batch-to-batch consistency so the cigar you loved last month tastes the same today, and a smoking experience worth the time you give it. Three out of four isn’t a pass. It goes back to the bench.
Every Ironleaf cigar is rolled in the United States, and that buys us two things offshore brands can’t get. We can adjust a blend in weeks instead of queuing for an overseas slot. And we inspect construction at every stage, catching a problem before it reaches a box instead of hearing about it when a retailer calls to complain.
Why we stay small-batch
Ironleaf will never sit in every humidor. We’re built for the tobacconist who wants what the shop down the street can’t carry and for the smoker who likes handing his friends a surprise find before it goes mainstream.
Small means we can take a retailer’s feedback and build a shop relationship without clearing a product committee. It means we show up in person, learn the names of your regulars, and don’t disappear when supply gets tight. Buy a box or stock a line, and you’re dealing with the two people who picked the tobacco, approved the blend, and decided it earned the name.
What we won’t compromise
Blend consistency won’t slip as we grow. The 40% rejection rate isn’t a launch-year stunt we quit once volume gets loud. A run that misses the standard doesn’t ship under our name. Expensive today, yes. But losing the retailer who gave us shelf space, or the customer who bought a box off one great stick, costs a lot more.
We’d rather have 50 retailers who believe in what we’re doing than 500 accounts we’ll never see. Stock Ironleaf and you have our direct line. Smoke our blends and we want to hear what works and what we should fix. That loop only runs when the brand stays small enough to listen and act.
The Ironleaf standard
This is what boutique is supposed to mean. Not “artisan” stamped on a factory blend, but real selectivity, real oversight, and real consequences when quality drops. What you’re smoking is the product of decisions two people made because they care about the cigar more than the number. See where you can find us, or explore the five blends that made the cut.
